The series you pick sets your price and look more than the Andersen name does. Andersen currently sells five window series, and they differ mainly in frame material, color choice and how much you can customize.
| Series | Interior | Exterior | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 Series | Fibrex composite | Fibrex composite | Lowest Andersen price, low upkeep |
| 200 Series | Wood | Low-maintenance vinyl | Wood inside on a tighter budget |
| 400 Series | Wood | Perma-Shield vinyl cladding | Most whole-house replacements |
| A-Series | Wood | Fiberglass and composite | Architectural looks, more colors |
| E-Series | Wood | Extruded aluminum cladding | Custom designs, 50+ exterior colors |
Price rises roughly in that order, from the 100 Series up to the E-Series. Most Sacramento homeowners who want real wood inside land on the 400 Series. Choose the A-Series or E-Series when color, profile or a custom shape matters more than budget.
Every series covers the common styles: double-hung, casement, awning, gliding (slider), picture and specialty shapes, and many also come as bay and bow units.
Fibrex is Andersen's composite of wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer. It is not vinyl. Andersen describes it as stronger and more stable than vinyl, and it never needs paint, which suits sun-exposed walls in the Central Valley. Our blog covers how Fibrex windows perform in more depth.
Andersen windows cost more per window than the vinyl windows we install, and the gap widens as you move from the 100 Series to the E-Series. For comparison, a typical installed vinyl window in Sacramento runs about $500 to $600.
Your Andersen quote depends on the series, window size, style, glass package, interior finish and how much stucco or trim work each opening needs. Multiply the per-window price by your opening count and a whole-house order lands well above any single-window figure, so we price every opening at the estimate rather than quote from a chart. Our Sacramento replacement windows guide covers how window pricing works across brands.
Energy savings alone rarely repay the cost of new windows. Replace for fogged glass, drafts, rotted or cracked frames, or sashes that no longer lock. If your windows still open, seal and look sound, you can wait.
Andersen backs its windows with the Owner-2-Owner limited warranty, which transfers to the next owner if you sell your home. Terms differ by series, so we give you the warranty document for the exact series you order.
Glass: on the 100, 400 and A-Series, insulating glass is covered for 20 years, including premature seal failure (fogging between panes).
Non-glass parts: frame, sash, hardware and screens are covered for 10 years on those series.
Labor: the product warranty generally does not include installation labor unless the document says so, and it excludes damage from improper installation.
That last point is why the installer matters. Andersen's Certified Contractor program trains installers on Andersen products and lets certified contractors offer a 2-year limited installation warranty. You can read each series document on Andersen's warranty page.
Renewal by Andersen is Andersen's separate full-service replacement company, founded in 1995. It sells its own Fibrex windows only through Renewal by Andersen locations, with its own sales and install process, so you cannot buy those exact windows from us or from a big-box store.
Home Depot sells several Andersen series and arranges installation through its own contractors. The window can be the same product, but the glass package, options and installer often differ, so compare the exact series, size and glass on each quote, not just the brand name.
Through GVD you choose from the full Andersen series lineup, get one fixed-price proposal, and work with our own trained crews and one project manager. For a brand-by-brand look, read our Andersen window reviews.
Low-E glass with a low solar heat gain rating is the right default for Sacramento's triple-digit summers. Under the 2025 Title 24 Energy Code, replacement windows in Climate Zone 12 must have a U-factor of 0.27 or lower and an SHGC of 0.23 or lower, with a looser limit when you replace 75 square feet or less.
Both numbers appear on the NFRC label of every window, so you can check the exact unit before it is ordered. We specify the glass by wall orientation, with the lowest heat gain on west and south exposures. Our Title 24 window guide explains the rules in more detail.
Most problems we see on Andersen windows trace back to installation or age, not the product.
Fogged glass: a failed seal lets moisture between the panes. Within the glass warranty term, Andersen may cover it.
Drafts and leaks: usually gaps or missing flashing around the frame, which a correct install prevents.
Sticking sashes: often an out-of-square opening or swollen wood on older units.
Interior wood wear: wood interiors, especially unfinished pine, need periodic refinishing as the finish wears. Fibrex 100 Series interiors do not.
We measure every opening and inspect the frames at a free in-home estimate.
You get a detailed fixed-price proposal with the series, glass and finish for each window.
After you approve, we order your windows. Lead time is typically 8 to 10 weeks, or 10 to 12 weeks for custom orders, not counting delivery.
We handle any required window permit with your city or county.
Our crew removes the old units, checks for rot, then sets, levels, flashes, insulates and seals each new window to Andersen's installation instructions.
We clean up and walk the finished job with you before we call it complete.
Choose Andersen when you want a wood interior, a composite or clad exterior, or a specific architectural look. Choose an all-vinyl window when budget and low upkeep come first.
We are also an Anlin Certified and Authorized Dealer, so we can quote both side by side. See our Anlin windows in Sacramento page, or compare options on our vinyl replacement windows page.
