Which Milgard Window Series Should You Choose?
The choice comes down to frame material, sightline and warranty. Milgard's current residential lines for our area are three vinyl series (Style Line, Trinsic and Tuscany) and the new C700 fiberglass series.

Trinsic has the largest glass area of Milgard's vinyl lines, and Tuscany looks more like a traditional wood window. What happened to Milgard Ultra fiberglass?
Milgard's fiberglass window is now the C700 Series, launched in early 2026 as the successor to the long-running C650 (sold for years as Ultra). Milgard reports up to a 10% thermal improvement over the C650. Fiberglass expands and contracts at a rate close to glass, so it holds its seal on a wall that bakes all afternoon, and it comes in white, black, bark, bronze, adobe and steel gray.
Who Owns Milgard Windows Now?
Milgard is owned by MITER Brands, the parent of MI Windows and Doors. MI bought Milgard from Masco in November 2019 for about $725 million, and the parent company took the MITER Brands name in 2022. It is not part of Cornerstone Building Brands, which owns Simonton.
Milgard was founded in 1958 in the Pacific Northwest and operates plants in Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington. Its fiberglass windows come from a Tacoma, Washington plant that Milgard renovated for the C700 launch. The product lines continued through the ownership change, and you can buy Milgard through dealers and installers as well as Home Depot.
What Does the Milgard Warranty Cover?
It depends on the series. Tuscany comes with Milgard's Full Lifetime Warranty, including glass breakage coverage. Trinsic and C700 carry a Lifetime Limited Warranty as standard, with the Full Lifetime Warranty available as a paid upgrade that must be chosen when you order. Style Line carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
Full Lifetime: Milgard pays for parts and labor to repair or replace defective products for as long as the original purchaser owns the home.
Glass breakage: covers accidental breakage, including tempered glass, on eligible series. It excludes acts of nature, building settling and improper installation.
Transfer: if you sell within 10 years of installation, full coverage passes automatically to the new owners until the 10th anniversary.
Exclusions to know: condensation, and hardware failure in highly corrosive settings such as within two miles of salt water, which matters for some Bay Area homes.

What Do Milgard Windows Cost Installed in Sacramento?
Installed vinyl replacement windows in Sacramento typically run $500 to $600 per window for standard sizes, and Milgard's vinyl series fall in or near that range. Fiberglass typically runs $900 to $2,000 or more per window, so expect C700 there. Size, grid patterns, glass package, exterior color and full-frame work move your price within each range.

Replace for fogged glass, drafts, cracked frames or sashes that no longer lock. If your windows still open, seal and look sound, you can wait, because energy savings alone rarely repay a window project.
Do Milgard Windows Meet Title 24 in Sacramento?
They can, depending on the glass package you order. Sacramento is in Climate Zone 12, where the 2025 Energy Code (in effect since January 1, 2026) limits replacement windows to a U-factor of 0.27 and an SHGC of 0.23. Replacing 75 square feet of windows or less allows 0.40 and 0.35.
Milgard says the C700 is tested and built to ENERGY STAR version 7.0, and its vinyl lines use low-E glass and warm-edge spacers. ENERGY STAR status applies to specific configurations, not a whole series, so we confirm the NFRC label for each window meets the Climate Zone 12 limits before ordering. Glass guidance for Sacramento heat
Sacramento summers run into triple digits with strong afternoon sun, so the low-E coating matters more than adding a third pane. Choose the lowest SHGC you can get on west and south walls.
Retrofit or Full-Frame Milgard Installation?

Retrofit is faster and disturbs less stucco and trim, but it shrinks the glass area slightly. Full-frame lets us inspect and flash the opening, so it costs more. We recommend one or the other for each opening during the free consultation.
How Milgard Compares With Simonton, Andersen and Anlin
Milgard is a mid-to-upper-tier brand, not a luxury one. Its closest vinyl competitor here is Simonton, so compare installed price, NFRC numbers and warranty on our Simonton windows page. Andersen, Marvin and Pella price higher mainly because of wood and wood-clad lines, so compare those against the C700, not Milgard vinyl.
We are an Andersen Certified Contractor and can quote Andersen windows side by side. We are also an Anlin Certified and Authorized Dealer for Anlin windows, a California-made vinyl line. We hold no Milgard certification. We install Milgard when it is the right fit for your house.
Common Milgard complaints concern installation quality, long lead times on custom orders and condensation from poor sealing. The installer matters as much as the product, which is why we measure every opening ourselves.

Just getting a contractor to call you back these days seems to be difficult, and our siding job didn't seem to generate much interest from the many companies we contacted. Last year, GVD did a complete demolition/remodel of a guest bathroom for me. This year they did a demolition/remodel of a master bathroom suite and a renovation of another guest bathroom. GVD transformed the old 1991 bathroom suite with a massive Jacuzzi tub, deteriorating shower, outdated tile, old lighting and plumbing fixtures, clunky cabinets, and worn countertops. It is now a lovely suite with a sleek soaker tub, modern plumbing and light fixtures, beautiful tile, gorgeous cabinets, a wall that is entirely mirror above the sinks, new windows and a new exterior deck door with screen. It has gone from a heavy, over tiled, bulky room to a lovely, light and airy, calm and inviting space. It is actually quite stunning. Upon completion there was a issue with one of the windows from the manufacturer and Vadim was able to get a replacement request issued a day after I told him. We have now experienced our first rain and there was an area the water was bypassing the gutter and again our project manager Vadim was quick to assess and address. If your looking for siding or windows get a few quotes obviously but I highly recommend this company. Kudos to the entire team’s professionalism, hard work, and attention.”

Last year, GVD did a complete demolition/remodel of a guest bathroom for me. This year they did a demolition/remodel of a master bathroom suite and a renovation of another guest bathroom. GVD transformed the old 1991 bathroom suite with a massive Jacuzzi tub, deteriorating shower, outdated tile, old lighting and plumbing fixtures, clunky cabinets, and worn countertops. It is now a lovely suite with a sleek soaker tub, modern plumbing and light fixtures, beautiful tile, gorgeous cabinets, a wall that is entirely mirror above the sinks, new windows and a new exterior deck door with screen. It has gone from a heavy, over tiled, bulky room to a lovely, light and airy, calm and inviting space. It is actually quite stunning. I can’t adequately describe how thrilled I am with all three of my GVD bathrooms and the entire remodeling experience. From the initial contacts with estimator Gary and design consultant Danielle to project managers Ross and Serge, it has been such a smooth and seamless experience.
